Office Activation happens after you install perpetual license software like Office 2021 or Office 2019. During this process, Microsoft checks the 25-character Product Key to make sure it’s valid.
If you lost the code, it can be challenging to find it. Fortunately, there are several options. Here are some of them: 1. Online Activation.
1. Online Activation
Obtaining Microsoft Office 2021 gives you access to classic applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher and Access. These tools help you keep your work organized and productive. You can purchase these licenses to use for a lifetime (unless you are on a subscription plan that requires you to pay monthly/yearly).
While most people are now moving to the cloud with Office 365, some still prefer the stability and control of the traditional licensing options. For those, Microsoft offers the option to activate Office products online using a key. This process is very simple and easy to follow.
To activate Office over the internet, you will need to have a valid product key and a working internet connection. Once you have both, follow the on-screen instructions to get started. You may also need to activate your Microsoft account. If you have trouble activating your Microsoft account, check the help for further assistance.
If you are using a desktop computer and want to activate your software over the phone, contact the support number in the activation guidelines. They will provide you with the telephone number and activation instructions.
If you are using a laptop, you will need to have a network and a working internet connection. The process is similar to that for a desktop. However, it may be a little more complicated.
2. Phone Activation
When you use Microsoft Office on a PC that has not been activated, you are prompted to do so at startup. The Activation Wizard provides detailed instructions on how to complete the process. It can also help troubleshoot activation problems.
If you are unable to activate your copy of Microsoft Office, you may need to contact the product support team. In addition to assisting you with the activation process, they can also answer any questions you have about your software. However, before calling the Microsoft Activation Center, make sure you have your installation ID handy.
The Microsoft Activation Center can be reached at 1-800-288-6362. Once you have your installation ID, follow the steps in the Activation Wizard to complete the activation process. Once the process is completed, you will be able to use Microsoft Office on your computer.
Another option is to install a Key Management Service (KMS) server in your organization’s network. This will enable you to automatically activate your systems without using a license key. Some of the top KMS activators include KMSpico, MicroKMS, Microsoft Toolkit Activator, and more.
If you are unable to activate your Microsoft Office, it may be because the current version has been activated too many times. This is because Microsoft only allows a limited number of activations for each licensed copy of Office.
3. Key Management Service (KMS)
Microsoft’s KMS software-based activation method has been around for some time. It lets organizations centrally manage and activate multiple installations of Office products within the organization. Each installed copy of the product requires a valid KMS client key, which is unique to each PC. The client key is verified by the system during activation to ensure it is genuine and a legitimate install. KMS is great for businesses, schools, or other large groups that deploy and use Office regularly on a number of computers.
For example, if your group uses Office 2021 for Windows 10 Education (LTSC), you can set up an on-premises KMS server to manage the license keys for all of those systems. This will help you avoid losing your Office product key or having to buy more licenses when the old one expires, which could be costly for the company.
Another benefit of using KMS is that it allows for automatic key rotation. This means that the KMS rotates the cryptographic secret for each encrypted request to a new key after an interval of time. The old key is still saved so that any existing encryption requests can be decrypted.
KMS also provides aliases for each key that you can use to reference different keys without changing the code. This is especially helpful when you have multiple KMS keys with the same name in the same region. You can allow and deny permissions based on aliases, which are independent from the policies and grants that control access to the underlying KMS keys, if needed.
4. Active Directory-Based Activation
For those that aren’t ready to embrace the recurring’service’ model of Microsoft Office 365, Office LTSC 2021 offers a traditional perpetual license alternative. Its core features remain the same as Microsoft’s subscription product. But, the activation methods are different.
For instance, it’s important to keep a record of the 25-character product key because it is used when attempting to activate the software online or via phone. The product key is a unique identifier for your installation of Office and will differ from another computer where the software has been installed. This is because each installation of Office installs a unique set of registry entries and uses its own product key to verify that it’s the original installed copy.
If you use KMS to deploy the product, you must add the KEY_GENERIC_PRODUCT_KEY and SUIT_NAME keys to the Windows Server or workstation running the Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT). You must also make sure that the VAMT server has a connection to the database where the KMS host is stored.
You must also configure the KMS server with a unique key that matches the one you obtained from the VLSC. Finally, you must make sure that sufficient read-write (R/W) Domain Controllers are available to support the activation of clients across your network. Once a client is activated using KMS, it must connect to the activation infrastructure every 180 days to check for updates. This helps protect the integrity of the system and the security of your data.
